Delicious Picnic Food Ideas
Whether you have absolutely no time to prepare a Picnic or are strategically planning ahead, these Picnic Food ideas will inspire you
You can't go wrong with a delicious Platter Picnic that has a variety of options to lay around and eat from on your special date.
If you can find out beforehand if you're date dislikes certain things that can be helpful, but if not (and you want it to be a surprise) then just make sure you have a wide selection of options for them to choose from and enjoy. Some suggestions - Buy different cheeses & crackers, olives, tomatoes, seafood or salamis and sausages, different breads and dips like hummus and basil pesto or even balsamic vinegar & oil can be great to dip the bread in. For some sweeter options, try strawberries, melons, grapes and chocolate dip. Dipping different fresh fruits into a chocolate dip is a favourite for romantic picnics! Platter Picnics can feel like a private mini buffet for two, and can be loads of fun trying different combinations and flavours together to see what tastes the best! Remember to take a small cutting board, cheese knives, and napkins in your picnic basket and some fresh drink beverages to have with the platter food. |
There is something about France that just evokes a sense of romance, whether its a picture of the Eiffel Tower or sharing a warm Chocolat' Croissant to the sound of Lie Vie en Rose.
If you're wanting to do something special with a French theme, all it takes is a few extra ingredients. Pack a French Baguette (the long bread stick in the bakery section) and some fillings. Some like ham, cheese and a tasty dressing or dip like Basil pesto. Also include some croissants, chocolate éclairs and strawberries to complete the theme. If you don't feel like drinking wine then take some organic juice made from the freshest fruit or sparkling grape-juice to celebrate. If you want to go all out, take a soft picnic rug, a few cushions to lie down on, a portable speaker to plug your phone or iPod into and play some traditional French Café music. Check out the lovely French Bakery in Heathcote for some traditional French goodies, which are open every day. |
